Nexus One

A tear-town by iSuppli reveals that the Nexus One carries a Bill of Materials of $174.15 based on a preliminary estimate from their team. This is the likely actual costs of the components themselves and doesn’t allow for other expenses such as manufacturing, software, box contents, accessories and royalties. The report breaks down individual components in the device showing the Qualcomm processor ($30.50) and the AMOLED display from Samsung ($23.50) to be the top two most costly items.

Rumor Report - Nexus One sales page screenshots suggest $530 unlocked

Screenshots of designs for some of Google’s Nexus One sales pages posted via a tipster suggest some interesting details about the new device. If authentic they reveal that the phone will be available unlocked and unsubsidised from Google for $530 and $179.99 with a T-Mobile plan.

The $530 unsubsidised price would seem to disprove speculation that Google may choose to heavily subsidise the phone in order to fuel sales.

The $179.99 subsidised version of the phone would require a 2 year contract with a single rate plan of £39.99 + Text + Web for $79.99 total.

Yes, the Nexus One has a headphone jack. Not the biggest news story of the day but it’s a question some people have been asking. We’re starting to wonder by the way if anyone is able to take a decent, in-focus picture these days.

Back of the Nexus One showing removable battery cover, camera and interestingly a QR code (2-dimensional bar code). Users with a camera phone equipped with the correct reader software can scan the image of the QR Code causing the phone’s browser to launch and redirect to the programmed URL. The QR code here is a link to a Nexus One christmas game making it likely that this is an early developer version only QR. Photo Credit: @djrobrob
