Nexus One 3G performance issues being addressed by T-Mobile
T-Mobile have given advice to their support staff to address reports by customers that the Nexus One seems to have a problem maintaining a 3G connection on it’s US network. The company posted on it’s forum a few days ago, saying that it was looking into the reported issue, and has now published an internal document which seems to suggest that that an issue exists.
- Do not transfer customers to HTC, they will not be able to resolve this issue for customers.
- Do not recommend filing a handset exchange as this is not known to fix the issue
- Confirm that customers are using the device in a 3G area and there are no known outages
- Confirm that customers have data on their Nexus One line of service
- Inform customers that if they have WiFi enabled the 3G icon will not show up. This is normal on Android devices.
- Recommend that customers perform a soft reset by power cycling the phone and see if the issue continues.
- Ask customers if they had 3G available on their previous phone in the same location.
These tips, given by T-Mobile to their support staff seem to confirm that there is an issue with the Nexus One maintaining a connection on the US operator’s network. It’s not yet known how widespread this issue is and whether or not it is limited to US T-Mobile customers.
We’re hoping that this will get fixed quickly with a firmware update. We’d be interested to hear from anyone outside the US who has had any issues with the Nexus One’s 3G performance.
